BRIEF DESCRIPTION
This USACE Baltimore District project was for the maintenance dredging of Knapps Narrows Federal Navigation Channel near Tilghman Island. The project was for the removal of 100,000 CY of materials to restore the channel to its depth of 9 Feet plus 2-feet of allowable overdepth and a width of 75-feet. For commercial and recreational users, this project was important to keep movement between the mouths of Harris Creek, the Choptank river, and Eastern Bay efficient. This project ensured boats were able to move easily across the Chesapeake Bay.
