BRIEF DESCRIPTION
This project was a Congressionally-authorized Federal Navigation Project (FNP) in Little Narragansett Bay, Westerly, RI and Stonington, CT. Approximately 60,000 cubic yards of sandy material was dredged from the channel and placed onto Sandy Point Island. A hydraulic cutter head dredge removed sandy material from the shoaled portions of the Little Narragansett Bay Federal Navigation Channel and pumped it onto the island where it was graded per contract drawings. Placement on the island included a maximum elevation of 7.5 feet above MLLW and a 1 foot vertical to 10 foot horizontal slope extending from the center portion of the island into the intertidal zone.
Services provided by TITAN under this contract consisted of dredging quality control and site safety along with scheduling, reviewing, certifying, and managing of all submittals through the three phase process of inspection.
