BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Dredging deepening and widening the entrance of the Federal Navigation Channel at Mattituck, NY. This addressed the beach erosion to the east of the inlet and the excess build-up of sand to the west of the inlet. The entrance to Mattituck Inlet was dredged to a depth of 11 feet plus 2 feet of overdepth. The sand that was dredge, and the sand which had been removed, was used to replenish the beach on the east site.

Approximately 90,000 cubic yards of sand was removed from the channel and 10,000 cubic yards was removed from the up-drift jetty.

This project had a variety challenges and most of them were weather related. The weather broke record lows in temperature and high winds continually pounded Mattituck Inlet. However, TITAN worked with Village Dock, Inc 24/7 on this round-the-clock dredging project with rotating crews. We enjoyed working with Village Dock, Inc. and the USACE Buffalo District, and we send out a special nod to the committed dredging personnel at Village Dock that persistently stayed the course despite the weather.
